Man charged after armed break-in on Burin Peninsula

A 28-year-old man from Grand Bank is facing multiple charges after police responded to a report of an armed individual inside a home in Fortune.
According to Burin Peninsula RCMP, officers were called to a residence on Forest Road shortly before 7 p.m. on March 31. Police say an unwanted individual had entered the home unlawfully while carrying a concealed weapon and confronted an occupant. The suspect and victim were known to each other.
The man fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.
Following patrols in the area, police located and arrested Anthony Hoskins without incident outside a business in Grand Bank.
Hoskins has been charged with a number of Criminal Code offences, including unlawful entry into a dwelling, careless use of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and using a firearm in the commission of an offence.
He also faces charges related to possessing a firearm in a motor vehicle, breaching a weapons prohibition order, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Hoskins made his first court appearance in Grand Bank provincial court on April 1.
The investigation is ongoing.
