Loud bang rattles eastern Newfoundland

At about 6:30 pm this evening, many residents in eastern Newfoundland heard a loud bang.

The bang was heard in the metro area and Conception Bay North.

There was no lightning detected in the area at the time, but many people flocked to social media reporting a rattling and loud bang lasting about ten seconds.

At the same time, the bang was detected on the seismogram for St. John's but Natural Resources Canada has not confirmed an earthquake.
