Let's explore the Multicultural Festival in Corner Brook
It was a brisk day on Saturday with the wind chill steady at minus 27. But that didn't stop people from coming to the Corner Brook Winter Carnival Multicultural event that was held at the Royal Canadian Legion on West Street.
As soon as I entered the building we were greeted by Deadly Cookies to our left, they were giving out free samples of their chocolate chip cookies. Then to our right, there was a table where you filled in your name and phone number for a chance to win prizes.

I then joined the lineup of more than 50 people to see the tables that showcased popular businesses in Corner Brook, such as Samuels Sammiches and Filipino BBQ and Deadly Cookies, amongst others.
Christina & Melissa were representing Samuels Sammiches and Filipino BBQ. They were serving Skewers, Fish Balls, Macaroons, along with other pastries. They are located at 28 Batstones Road in Corner Brook, they opened in September of last year.
Olga from Ukraine presented sour cabbage, a typical food from Ukrainian cuisine. It is served as an appetizer with meat and potato dishes.
Norma and Krystal Simms from The Samosa Lady. They served all kinds of wonderful Samosa from beef, pulled pork and chicken. Samosas are a South Asian pastry with a savoury filling. Its origins come from India, Sri Lanka, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and Tamil Nadu.
Lourdes and Bohr served Mexican Cake, also known as Tres leches cake. Its origins are from Mexico, Latin America & Nicaragua, which includes a cake base, typically sponge cake that's soaked in three different kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and whole milk. topped with whipped cream and strawberries.
There was also sushi, from grilled salmon with spicy mayo to the classic raw. There was something there for everyone. Even arts and crafts!
Let's not forget the live performances as well. There was a mummers performance that lit up the whole room.
