St. John's is one of the oldest cities in North America. Since it was established in 1583, it has seen many residents over the years. According to some people, some of the residents have never left.

Here is a list of the five most haunted places in St. John's:

Masonic Hall

It's an old building, and it has been known to be the site of some apparitions. It was built in 1896 by the Freemasons.

The Duke of Duckworth

The popular downtown pub is known to be haunted by a ghost who moves objects and turns on televisions. The ghost is considered more playful than sinister.

The Four Sisters

Stonemason Samuel Garrett, who was known for building iconic buildings in St. John's such as Cabot Tower, also built the Four Sisters for his daughters. There have been rumours over the years that in one of the upper windows, you can see a woman at night.

Honourable Mentions:

Deadman's Pond

The pond is located on Signal Hill. Long rumoured to be bottomless, the pond is near the site of executions in the past. The bodies were said to have been disposed of in the pond, and some spirits linger there today.

Newman Wine Vaults

The vaults are some of the oldest structures in St. John's. There is said to be ghosts who will become physical with some visitors.
