Residents are invited to kick off Royal St. John's Regatta festivities with an evening of free live entertainment, food and games during the annual Regatta Eve celebration at Quidi Vidi Lake this evening.
The concert will take place at the Quidi Vidi Bandstand and feature performances by several well-known Newfoundland and Labrador bands, along with concessions serving traditional Regatta treats, beverages and games of chance.
The entertainment lineup includes:
Carolina East Band – 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Celtic Connection – 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
The Navigators – 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
To help attendees get to and from the event, Gulliver's Bus will operate a "load and go" shuttle service between the Confederation Building and the Dominion on Kings Bridge Road from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Accessible buses will also be available.
Event organizers have also partnered with InclusionNL to improve accessibility for attendees. Services will include volunteer support at an Inclusion Tent, a large-print race schedule, a toll-free accessibility information line and text support. Golf cart transportation, provided by Bally Haly Country Club, will also be available between the Kings Bridge Road bus stop and Quidi Vidi Lake for those requiring assistance.
The Regatta Eve celebration is one of the longstanding traditions leading up to the Royal St. John's Regatta, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow, weather permitting.
