Evacuation alert for portions of Paradise and CBS while Kingston fire reaches Ochre Pit Cove

There is an evacuation alert for portions of Paradise and Conception Bay South. This is not an order but an alert.

For Paradise residents, the area on the south side of Topsail Road from the Outer Ring Road exit to CBS boundary is in this alert and for Conception Bay South, residents east of Manuels River should be prepared to evacuate if so directed.

There are fire behaviour specialists in the air over Paddy's Pond. This fire has already grown to 200 ha. There are two water bombers, and Quebec assets will be redeployed to Paddy's Pond.

The Trans Canada Highway is open.

If the evacuation occurs, the evacuation centres will be the schools in Kelligrews.

The Kingston fire has reached Ochre Pit Cove this afternoon.
