A 27-year-old woman was arrested late Sunday night after allegedly fleeing police and crashing her vehicle on Logy Bay Road in St. John’s.
RNC officers attempted to stop a vehicle around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 near the intersection of Logy Bay Road and Harding Road. Police say the driver failed to stop and accelerated to speeds exceeding 115 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.
Officers did not pursue the vehicle due to public safety concerns. Several minutes later, police observed the vehicle crashed into a snowbank further north on Logy Bay Road, where the driver was attempting to exit.
The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the St. John’s lockup. She has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police. The vehicle was also impounded.
