Dogs and Residents Displaced After Bathroom Ceiling Fan Catches Fire Mount Pearl

Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department were called to a home on Humber Drive in Mount Pearl at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday for reports of a structure fire.

When crews from Brookfield station arrived, they quickly laid an attack line and made entry into the home where they located a fire inside a bathroom ceiling fan. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and pulled down the ceiling to ensure the fire didn’t spread further into the residence.

Firefighters also forced entry into a downstairs apartment, to ensure nobody was in the home at the time. The downstairs apartment was confirmed to be empty. It is unknown how many residents live in the downstairs unit or if they will be displaced.

Two dogs who were also inside the home ran out through the front door after firefighters extinguished the fire. Thankfully, no people or dogs were injured. However, both have been displaced as a result of the incident.

Humber Drive was closed between Topsail Road and Castors Drive as firefighters attended the scene.
