Two Deer Lake residents are facing drug trafficking charges after a police investigation led to the seizure of cocaine, cash and weapons during a traffic stop last week.
The RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West and RCMP West District General Investigation Section announced Monday that the arrests stem from an investigation conducted in the Deer Lake area on June 24.
According to police, investigators conducting surveillance observed a vehicle engaged in activity believed to be consistent with drug trafficking. Officers subsequently conducted a traffic stop with assistance from Deer Lake RCMP.
The vehicle's occupants were arrested without incident.
Police say a search of the individuals and the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, cash, drug trafficking paraphernalia and several edged weapons.
Forty-four-year-old Bert Gosney and 38-year-old Krystal Lee White, both of Deer Lake, have each been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Both accused were released from custody on conditions and are scheduled to appear in provincial court in September.
The investigation remains ongoing.
