Kruger has announced that Corner Brook Pulp and Paper will temporarily cease newsprint production.
This is due to the historically low water levels impacting the ability of Deer Lake Power to supply sufficient energy to viably operate the Mill. Levels at the Grand Lake reservoir are critically low.
The shutdown will take place on Monday, November 3.
The shutdown will last until water levels are restored, allowing viable operations to resume. During this period, workers will be reassigned to other work activities.
