The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a nationwide recall of certain cheese-containing products after possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall, updated April 8, 2026, affected a range of prepared foods sold primarily through Sobeys-affiliated grocery stores, including pasta salads, cauliflower cakes, wraps, and stuffed seafood items containing cheese. The products were distributed in multiple provinces, including Newfoundland and Labrador.

All affected items carried best-before dates up to early April 2026 and were sold under various in-store or unbranded labels.

The recall was triggered by the company and has been classified as a high-risk recall.

Consumers were advised not to eat, use, sell, or serve the recalled products and to either throw them out or return them to the place of purchase.

No illnesses had been reported at the time of the recall, but the CFIA said it was continuing a food safety investigation that could lead to additional products being pulled from shelves.

Listeria contamination may not be visible or detectable by smell, but it can cause serious illness. Symptoms can include fever, nausea, muscle aches, and headaches, and the infection can be particularly dangerous for pregnant women, seniors, young children, and those with weakened immune systems.
