Buchans Highway remains closed due to fire

This morning the Buchans Highway remains closed due to a forest fire.

Buchans Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Piller says the highway will be closed until further notice. All residents are asked to refrain from attempting to come through.

The provincial government has dispatched one waterbomber and three personnel.

The power was out for a few hours on Friday night but has since been restored.

The fire risk is deemed high in the area.
