Another system to impact NL

An area of low pressure will push across Newfoundland and portions of Labrador bringing rain, snow, mixed precipitation, and strong winds to the region.

Across western and central Newfoundland rain and snow is expected tonight and Thursday. For the west and southwest coast rainfall amounts of 20 to 50 mm are possible. Areas from Corner Brook to Hawkes Bay will change from snow to rain. Snowfall amounts will range from about 5 to 15 cm.

For the Port Saunders to St Anthony, to Englee area, precipitation will remain as snow with 15 to 25 cm expected.

Precipitation will be mostly rain for central and eastern Newfoundland. Strong winds with gusts between 80 km/h and 100 km/h is possible.

For southeastern Labrador snowfall amounts of 30 cm is expected.

Marine Atlantic is impacted by this system too. The North Sydney to Port aux Basques crossing scheduled for 11:45 am is departing at 10:30 am. There could be an impact on crossings on Wednesday and Thursday.

Another storm is possible for this weekend.
