Another storm to bring snow, rain, and strong winds to Newfoundland



A storm system will move across Newfoundland bringing snow, rain, and strong winds.


Heavy rain is expected from this afternoon to Tuesday afternoon for the Avalon, Burin, Connaigre, and Bonavista peninsulas. Total rainfall or 30 to 50 mm, with locally higher amounts, is expected.


Snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm is expected for the northeast and east coast of Newfoundland. Deer Lake and vicinity, Buchans and the interior, Green Bay- White Bay, and south of Hare Bay on the Great Northern Peninsula will receive 10 to 20 cm except 30 to 50 cm over higher terrain.


Widespread strong winds are also expected. Across the Avalon and south coast gusts between 100 and 110 is expected. Gusts to 150 km/h are possible in the Wreckhouse area.
