An unsettled start to 2023
It is going to be an unsettled start to 2023 for most of Newfoundland as a low tracks across the eastern half of the Island.
Across southern Newfoundland, rain will begin this morning and spread to most areas by this evening.
Later this afternoon rain will mix with or change to snow for parts of central and western Newfoundland. Tonight all of central and most of western Newfoundland will see a transition to snow. The Avalon Peninsula will stay as rain until tomorrow morning and then transition to snow.
Rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm are expected for the south coast, Avalon Peninsula, and Clarenville.
15 cm of snow is expected for Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander and vicinity, Bonavista North, and Terra Nova.
For the Bay of Exploits and Buchans and the Interior 10 cm of snow is expected along with 2 to 5 mm of rain.
