After Nasty Weather Today, Another Low is Headed Toward NL #nlwx

Newfoundland and Labrador is seeing some nasty weather today. Snow is falling in Labrador, and over higher elevations of western Newfoundland and there is rain at lower elevations. Elsewhere across Newfoundland, there is a risk of shower activity today.

In Labrador, 5 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected from Churchill Falls to Eagle River. Along the northern coast, winds will gust to 100 km/h today and tonight before abating on Saturday morning.

Some schools in western Labrador were closed today as result.

Western Newfoundland will see rain today and gusty winds. Inland and over higher elevations, some snow is expected. In the heaviest snow, some areas could see up to 10 centimetres through tonight. Areas near the water may remain as rain.

Conditions do clear tomorrow before another low arrives on Saturday night.

This low will spread snow across southern Labrador and rain across Newfoundland on Sunday. This low will be accompanied by strong winds.

Temperatures will rise to near twenty degrees across Newfoundland on Sunday with the passage of a front.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled all crossings scheduled for today from both North Sydney and Port aux Basques.
