The Kingston fire has grown and is now 3001 ha and has extended as far North as Island Pond. The Southern Boundary remains relatively unchanged. Coast Guard helicopters and Canadian Armed Forces are working with local crews. Today, there are three water bombers, four helicopters and ground crews working. The work also continues on the fire breaks, but is nearing completion. Ground crews have been pulled from the north edge.
Some challenging conditions are expected this afternoon and evening as the winds increase from the west and southwest from 20 to 40 km/h.
In Holyrood, the fire is 22 ha in size as efforts continue.
The Martin Lake fire is 245 ha and has increased on the north and south edges. Water bombers, helicopters, and ground crews continue to fight the fires. Winds will come from the southwest at 20 to 40 km/h. Smoke will be visible today on Route 360; the highway may close.
Some evacuees have been contacted directly by telephone by what has been confirmed to be an insurance scam. The scammers had knowledge of the name of their insurance company and their personal contact information. Be vigilant and contact your insurance company directly for any communications with them.
