The university is predicting 17 named storms, 8 hurricanes, and 4 major hurricanes. In an average year, there are 12 named storms, 6 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes.
2020 was a very active year with 30 named storms. There were 13 hurricanes and 6 major hurricanes.
In the northern Atlantic Ocean, hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th.
