Abandoned home destroyed by fire in Conception Bay South on Wednesday night

Emergency crews got the call at around 10:13 p.m. of a reported structure fire on Villa Nova Road.

When crews arrived a large residential structure and a large plume of black smoke and fire could be seen above the trees. The fire could be seen up to two kilometres away.

Firefighters battled the fire for over a hour before getting the fire knocked down, firefighters stayed on scene for a number of hours making sure the fire was extinguished.

Villa Nova Road Was closed as the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary secured the area. It is unknown what caused the fire, the scene is being held for RNC fire investigators to examine in the morning.
