A Soggy Wednesday Expected for NL #nlwx

A large area of low pressure will bring some much-needed rain to Newfoundland and Labrador beginning on Tuesday night and continuing through the day on Wednesday. There will also be gusty winds.

The heaviest rain will fall over western Labrador, western Newfoundland, and southern Newfoundland. In the heaviest rain, some locations could receive 50 mm.

Tuesday Night and Wednesday Rainfall Forecast:

  • St. John's 10 mm

  • Marystown 15 to 25 mm

  • Gander 5 to 15 mm

  • Port aux Basques 20 to 30 mm

  • Corner Brook 30 to 40 mm

  • St. Anthony 40 to 60 mm

  • Happy Valley-Goose Bay 20 to 25 mm

  • Nain 30 to 45 mm

  • Labrador City 10 to 15 mm

Some locations have a wide range of rainfall probabilities. The reason for this is because there is little model consensus at this time.

Some areas will continue to see rain on Thursday and Friday also.

Newfoundland and Labrador has been parched lately with little to no precipitation lately. This lack of rain has aided in the development of several forest fires across the province.
