64-year-old arrested in connection with historical sexual violence investigation

A 64-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a historical sexual violence investigation.

In June of last year, the RNC received a report of multiple incidents of sexual assault which occurred in St. John’s between 1997 and 2009. The victims were youths at the time and were known to the accused.

On Wednesday the Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal arrested the accused who resides in Montreal.

The male now faces charges of incest, bestiality, sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, assault with a weapon, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, exposure, and uttering threats.

The accused was released from custody on conditions and is set to appear in Provincial Court on a later date. The investigation is ongoing.
