$23.5-Million Contract Awarded for Marystown’s Canning Bridge Replacement

The Newfoundland and Labrador government has awarded a $23.47-million contract for the replacement of the Marystown Harbour Bridge, commonly known as the Canning Bridge.
Trident Construction Limited was awarded the multi-year project, which will replace the aging bridge and underpass infrastructure in the Marystown harbour area.
The project includes construction of a new two-span concrete bridge and a new long-span underpass at Ville Marie Drive. Work will also include roadway reconstruction, sidewalks, drainage improvements, retaining walls, signage and guiderail installation.
The provincial government said the project will improve safety, reliability and transportation capacity through the harbour area.
The Canning Bridge is an important transportation link for residents, businesses and visitors in the region, connecting the community and providing access to employment, education, health care and other essential services.
The project is expected to be substantially completed by August 2028.
