Storm Heading Toward Newfoundland #nlwx

An area of low pressure centred just south of southern Nova Scotia will bring some unsettled weather to Newfoundland later this weekend.

Snow will push across Newfoundland early on Sunday morning. The snow will change to rain along the south coast, Avalon Peninsula, and central Newfoundland. Precipitation will remain as snow along the west coast.

For the Avalon Peninsula and Burin Peninsula, up to 30 mm of rain is expected. In central Newfoundland, only about 2 mm is expected. Central and western sections of Newfoundland could see 15 to 25 cm of snow combined with wind gusts to 70 km/h.

For southeastern Labrador, 10 to 15 cm of snow is expected.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled ferry crossings for this evening. The crossings scheduled for Sunday may also be cancelled.
