As a major winter storm bears down on the eastern half of Newfoundland there are several travel implications. Here is an update on the roads, airports, and ferries.
Roads:
Avalon: Snow covered to mostly snow-covered. Slippery sections. Reduced visibility and blowing snow.
South Coast: Snow covered to mostly snow-covered. Slippery sections.
Central: Bare sections. Some snow covered sections. Snow-covered to mostly snow-covered. Slippery sections.
Western: Snow covered to mostly snow-covered. Slippery sections.
Northern Peninsula: Snow covered to mostly snow-covered. Slippery sections.
Labrador: Partly covered.
Airports:
St John's International Airport: All flights cancelled.
Gander International Airport: All flights cancelled.
Deer Lake Regional Airport: Most flights cancelled.
Ferries:
Marine Atlantic: Crossings scheduled for this morning are cancelled. Now scheduled to depart 11:45 pm this evening. That crossing is also expected to be cancelled.
All Provincial Ferries are on schedule.
