States of Emergencies Declared on the Parts of the Avalon as Storm Worsens #nlwx


A storm is causing widespread problems in areas of Eastern Newfoundland. There are several states of emergencies and many areas have taken snow clearing equipment off the road.

As of 11 am, the Mayor of St. John's has declared a state of emergency. All businesses are ordered to close and all vehicles are ordered off the road except emergency vehicles. Please return home until the order is lifted.

The City of Mount Pearl has declared a state of emergency. All businesses are ordered to close immediately, and all vehicles are prohibited from using City streets, except for emergency vehicles and City snow clearing vehicles until it has been lifted.

The Town of Paradise has declared a state of emergency.

Most towns on the Avalon has ceased snow clearing operations due to the severe weather.

There are multiple power outages across the province. Check Newfoundland Power and NL Hydro for the latest.

Many roads are either closed or impassable.
