First Day of 2020 Won't Be Nice #nlwx


An area of low pressure centred over Massachusetts this morning will bring a mix of unsettled weather to Atlantic Canada to end off 2019.

In Newfoundland snow will arrive on the southwest coast around midnight and spread slowly across the Island on Wednesday. Along the south coast, the Avalon, and eastern sections of central Newfoundland, the snow will become mixed with, and then change to rain. 10 to 15 cm of snow is possible in most areas.

Most areas of Labrador with the exception of western Labrador will also see snow. Only about 5 cm is expected for most areas.

Marine Atlantic has postponed their ferry crossings scheduled for this evening to tomorrow.
