Potential for Extended Period of Freezing Rain in NL #nlwx

A low-pressure system south of Nova Scotia will bring more unsettled weather to Newfoundland Tuesday through Wednesday.

Newfoundland Precipitation will move into Newfoundland on Tuesday afternoon. At this point, there could be a major freezing rain event for the south coast, central, and western Newfoundland. It looks like the Avalon will remain as rain and some snow is possible over higher elevations of the west coast. Freezing rain will be more prevalent over higher elevations. Areas adjacent to the coast may stay as rain. There is a Wreckhouse wind warning in effect for Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity. Gusts from 100 to 120 km/h are expected Tuesday afternoon to near midnight Tuesday night.

Labrador Snow is expected to reach coastal Labrador on Tuesday evening. 15 to 25 cm is expected from Tuesday evening to Wednesday evening.
