Strong Storm System to Hammer NL
An area of low pressure currently centred over southern Nova Scotia will bring severe weather to Newfoundland and Labrador.
Newfoundland: By Friday morning the system will be located south of Newfoundland. The Avalon will see snow at first, then a transition to rain.
Central will hold on to the snow longer with up to 15 to 20 cm expected. Across the west coast, some areas could reach or exceed 30 cm of snow.
Areas next to the coast will see lesser amounts of snow because some of the precipitation will fall as rain.
There will also be strong winds.
Labrador: Snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm are expected for coastal sections.
There will also be strong winds.
Marine Atlantic has cancelled all crossings for today.
