14-year-old facing second-degree murder charge

A 14-year-old male from Mount Pearl has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the homicide of a 65-year-old female also from Mount Pearl.

On Monday, investigators located a 14-year-old male at a home in Mount Pearl and placed him under arrest.

The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.

On Thursday police responded to a residence on Smallwood Drive in Mount Pearl in relation to a report of a sudden death. A 65-year-old female was deceased inside the home. The RNC referred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of the death.
