Woman arrested after calling 911 with fake report

Just before 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, the RNC responded to a report of a disturbance in a residential neighbourhood in the west end of St. John’s.
The information provided stated that an intoxicated female who was in possession of a firearm was causing a disturbance in the area. Upon arrival, officers did not locate anyone matching the provided description, nor were there any further calls on the matter.
After a brief investigation, police determined that the information provided had been knowingly false. As a result, a 37-year-old female was arrested and charged with public mischief, resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer, breach of release order, and breach of the Emergency 911 Act.
She was held to appear in court in the morning.
