Stephenville Man Arrested After Trying to Hit Pedestrians With Vehicle #nltraffic


A 45-year-old Stephenville man is facing multiple charges following reports indicating that he attempted to use a car to strike two individuals who were walking along Main Street in Stephenville Thursday morning.


Officers located the suspect's vehicle and discovered it was abandoned.


The driver fled on foot prior to police arrival.


RCMP Police Dog Services were called in to assist. The driver was located by police a short time later and was taken into custody. He is facing multiple charges, including assault with a weapon, impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample and driving while prohibited.


The man was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
