St. John's Residents Advised of Privacy Breach

The City of St. John’s is advising of an unintentional privacy breach involving the personal information of 219 residents who use its RECconnect system.

Earlier this week a City of St. John’s employee became the victim of a phishing scheme in which someone posing as an employee of the City of St. John’s asked for an accounts receivable report via email.

The information breached included the name, RECconnect account number and the amount owing. This information cannot be used to access online accounts. All residents who were impacted have been notified via email or phone.
