St. John’s Regional Fire Department to welcome 17 new firefighter recruits

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department will welcome 17 new firefighter recruits on Thursday, June 8 at Central Fire Station.

These new firefighters come from varying backgrounds, bringing diverse experiences and education to the SJRFD.

On Friday, the new recruits will begin 10 days of internal classroom and practical training which will take place at the Kenmount training tower, preparing them for the environment and culture of firefighting.

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department operates eight fire stations. The recruited firefighters will be assigned to one of those stations.
