Motorists are being advised to expect road closures and parking restrictions around Quidi Vidi Lake on Tuesday evening as preparations continue for the Royal St. John's Regatta.

The City of St. John's said several streets in the Quidi Vidi Lake area will be closed to traffic from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Aug. 4 to facilitate Regatta Eve activities. Access to the closed roads will be limited to emergency and service vehicles.

No parking zones, with vehicles subject to towing, will also be in effect during the closure period.

The affected streets include:

  • Carnell Drive

  • Lakeview Avenue

  • Lake Avenue

  • Clancey Drive

  • The Boulevard

Residents who live on the affected roads and need access to their vehicles on Regatta Day are encouraged to park outside the Regatta site before the closures begin.

The city said residents who cannot make alternative arrangements will be required to provide proof of residency to access their homes on Regatta Day. However, access may be temporarily restricted throughout the day to ensure pedestrian safety.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area where possible and plan alternate routes during the scheduled closures.
