Queen Elizabeth II laid to rest


Queen Elizabeth II's coffin has been lowered into the Royal Vault at Windsor Castle. Her final resting place.


Today was the date of the funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Earlier this morning the coffin arrived at Westminster Abbey. Afterwards, the funeral procession left Westminster Abbey and began the route to St. George's Chapel.


St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in England is the final resting place for others including George VI, Princess Margaret, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.


On September 8 Buckingham Palace released a statement that said "following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision."


At the time the 96-year-old Monarch was at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.


The Queen died later that day.


Queen Elizabeth II had been on the Throne for over 70 years taking the throne on February 6, 1952.
