NL Health Services renews three-year partnership to develop health-care leaders

Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services has renewed a three-year strategic alliance with the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL), providing health-care managers with a pathway to nationally recognized leadership development and certification.
The partnership also formally recognizes NL Health Services' Learning LEADerS Program as part of the CCHL Certificate Partner pathway.
Graduates of the Learning LEADerS Program will receive advanced standing toward requirements for the Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation through the partnership.
The CHE designation is a national certification program for Canadian health leaders and is intended to support professional development, career advancement and peer recognition.
Stephan (Steve) Plourde, chief operating officer at CCHL, says the renewed alliance reflects a shared commitment to developing health-care leaders.
“The renewal of our strategic alliance with NL Health Services reinforces the strong alignment between our organizations and our collective dedication to developing impactful health leaders,” Plourde said.
Collette Smith, interim vice-president of human resources at NL Health Services, says recognizing the Learning LEADerS Program as a pathway to the CHE designation will expand access to leadership development opportunities for staff.
The organizations say the partnership will also support leadership development based on the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework, which outlines the knowledge, skills and attitudes expected of leaders within the Canadian health-care system.
NL Health Services says the renewed alliance will help address the changing needs of health-care leaders while supporting leadership development across the organization.
