The suspect who shot and killed a Minnesota lawmaker and wounded a second has been identified.

A manhunt is underway for 57-year-old Vance Boelter.

He is accused of assassinating Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband early this morning. He also shot Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, both of whom have undergone surgery and are alive.

Governor Tim Walz said the attacks were politically motivated.

Authorities say that he had a hit list containing nearly 70 names, the majority of which were Democrat lawmakers.
