Man facing charges after crash in South Dildo
The RCMP has charged a 37-year-old man, who crashed his vehicle in South Dildo.on Thursday afternoon.
Police received a report of a vehicle that was travelling at excessive speeds in the community. To avoid a collision, one motorist reported being forced off the roadway.
While officers were being dispatched to this report, another caller reported the same vehicle had just collided with a utility pole in South Dildo. The lone occupant exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area.
Officers arrived on the scene and located the driver nearby. The man was prohibited from driving, stemming from a recent conviction for an impaired driving charge of refusal. He was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and prohibited driving and was medically cleared by paramedics at the scene.
He was released from custody and is set to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges. He was also ticketed for failing to stop at the scene of an accident, having no insurance and operating an unregistered vehicle.
