Impaired driver arrested after passing RCMP cruiser

RCMP arrested a 42-year-old man for impaired driving on Wednesday, after he sped past a marked police car on the TCH near Brigus Junction.

An officer was on patrol on the TCH when a speeding vehicle pulled out and passed him.

When the man was stopped he showed signs of alcohol impairment and failed a roadside screening device.

He was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit.

The man was released from custody, his driver’s license was suspended and his vehicle was seized and impounded.

The accused will appear in court at a later date.
