Her Majesty Elizabeth II dies at 96

Her Majesty Elizabeth II has died. She was 96.

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral Castle this afternoon surrounded by her family.

The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

A statement from Buckingham Palace this morning said that "following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision."

Queen Elizabeth II has been on the Throne for over 70 years taking the throne on February 6, 1952.
