The Newfoundland and Labrador government is seeking expressions of interest from parties interested in the potential divestment and future development of the Buchans Generating Facility.
The public expression of interest invites proposals outlining potential uses for the facility, anticipated economic benefits and plans for its long-term operation and development.
The government says any potential divestment of the publicly owned asset must follow a fair, transparent and competitive process.
The expression of interest will allow the province to assess market interest, compare proposals and determine which approach could provide the greatest overall benefit to Newfoundland and Labrador.
The process could identify opportunities supporting regional economic development, Indigenous participation, employment, investment and the productive use of existing infrastructure.
Information on the expression of interest, including submission requirements and timelines, is available through the MERX tendering platform.
Submissions must be received by 4 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2026.
