Finland Joins NATO
Finland is now a member of NATO, the country that shares an eastern border with Russia is the latest country to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
Finland is the 31st country to join the alliance.
On Tuesday NATO foreign ministers met in Brussels to welcome Finland.
Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, “on this very day, in 1949, the Washington Treaty, NATO’s founding treaty, was signed in Washington and it is hard to imagine a better way of celebrating our anniversary than to have Finland becoming a full member of the Alliance.”
