Driver Charged with Attempted Murder in St. John’s
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary have charged a woman in connection with a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in St. John’s.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Friday August 16, RNC officersresponded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Golf Avenue at Mount Royal Avenue. Responding officers located a man with serious injuries lying in the roadway. The injured man was taken to the Health Science Centre to obtain medical support, and he remains in hospital at this time.
The vehicle involved in the collision, a grey Honda Civic, had fled the scene prior to police arrival. The operator was believed to be a woman who is known to the injured man. The RNC Criminal Investigation Division were engaged to support the investigation.
Following an investigation, a 36-year-old woman from St. John’s was arrested on Saturday morning. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court in relation to charges of attempted murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop at the scene of a collision.
