The Conservative Party will form the next government of British Columbia.
The Conservative Party won a majority government, winning 63 of the 93 seats. The BC NDP, which had held power, had a dismal result, winning only 28 seats. The BC Green Party won two seats.
Lorne Doerkson will become British Columbia’s next premier.
David Eby retained his seat but announced he would resign as the leader of the BC NDP.
The election appears to have been a political gamble by David Eby due to turmoil within the Conservative opposition.
This is the first time the Conservatives will take power after nearly a century.
