City provides update on construction of new Mews Community Centre

The City of St. John's has provided an update on the new facility to replace the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre.

The new facility is approximately 60 percent complete and is anticipated to open to the public next spring.

Once complete the new community centre will include a 25 metre, 6 lane swimming pool with a climbing wall, leisure pool with water features, steam room, full-size gymnasium, indoor walking track, convertible courts for squash, handball, or racquetball, and a dedicated space for the Boys and Girls Club and the REAL Program.

Originally the building was set to be opened in the fall of 2023 but delivery issues stalled the project. The cost remains on budget at $33,597,250 and is federally funded.
