312 new COVID-19 cases, schools to be virtual
There are 312 new cases of COVID-19 today. Of the new cases, 216 are in Eastern Health, there are 49 in Central Health, 30 are in Western Health, and there are 16 in the Labrador-Grenfell region.
There are 1,111 active cases. No one is in hospital.
Dr. Fitzgerald says even if you have one symptom get tested and isolate.
This will be the last live briefing of the year unless the situation changes.
Ling Term Care Update
Due to the increase in cases. Residents of long term care homes will be permitted one visitor for the next two weeks. There will be no more day passes except in extreme circumstances.
Schools Update
School will resume on January 4 but will be virtual and will be evaluated on a weekly basis.
The priority remains to get students back in person as soon as it is safe to do so.
