French authorities say that they have foiled a ricin attack after intercepting messages from an Egyptian-born student.

Police raided the student's residence in Paris and he was placed under investigation and denied bail.

The suspect has been charged of association with a terrorist enterprise.

Police say that the suspect had tutorials which showed how to build ricin-based poisons.

A second man was arrested was later released.

Ricin is a poison found naturally in castor beans. If castor beans are chewed and swallowed, the released ricin can cause injury. Ricin can be made from the waste material left over from processing castor beans. It can be in the form of a powder, a mist, or a pellet, or it can be dissolved in water or weak acid.
