Drunk Driver Slams into Two Cars #nltraffic

RNC responded in Mount Pearl where a vehicle drove onto a residential lawn and struck a tree. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was involved in a second motor vehicle collision with a taxi a short distance from the first collision.
The 43 year old male driver fled on foot and was apprehended by police nearby with the assistance of several witnesses from the community.
After failing the breathalyzer the driver has been charged with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm, failing the breathalyzer, assault, uttering threats and dangerous driving under the Criminal Code. In addition, he was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with operating without insurance, fail to transfer ownership, and fail to remain at the scene of an accident.
The accused owed in excess of $2800.00 in outstanding fines and was held at the lockup for a court appearance in the morning.
