A 22-year-old man has been charged with Impaired Operation and was issued other tickets after he turned around after seeing a police check point in St. John’s on Saturday
At around 8:54 PM on Saturday members with the Royal Newfoundlands Constabulary’s Traffic Services team in conjunction with RCMP Traffic Services East, were conducting a Traffic Safety Checkpoint in the area of Waterford Bridge Road, St John’s. Police observed a vehicle turn around just before the check point leading officers to believe that the operator was trying to avoid police.
The vehicle was stopped and the 22-year-old male driver was charged with Impaired operation. His driver’s licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded. He was also issued Summary Offence Tickets for operating an unregistered vehicle and failure to transfer ownership. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
