Two arrested after disturbance in Northern Bay

The RCMP arrested an 80-year-old man and a 47-year-old man in Northern Bay after a disturbance at their home last night.

Police were called to the home shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. When officers arrived on the scene they spoke to the occupants of the home and de-escalated the disturbance.

Officers determined that the 80-year-old Sylvester Woodfine Sr. was wanted on an outstanding warrant for uttering threats.

The man then became irate, assaulted the officer using various items within the home and resisted arrest.

His son Sylvester Woodfine Jr. also became irate, threatened and assaulted another officer, and tried to interfere with the arrest of Woodfine Sr.

Both men were taken into custody without further incident and were removed from the home.

Sylvester Woodfine Sr. is charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon and resisting arrest. He was released from custody to appear at a later date.

Sylvester Woodfine Jr. is charged with assaulting a police officer, obstruction and uttering threats. He was remanded into custody and will appear in court again on Monday.
